McLaren embraces a high-performance hybrid future with the sculptural supercar Artura 2023. The new mid-engine two-seater is based on a lightweight platform. It also combines a V6 twin-turbo, the company’s first, with a battery-powered electric motor to create a plug-in hybrid model, another first.
The duo generates a combined power output of 671 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. Performance estimates are highlighted by a 0-60 mph time of 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph. Its body is pure McLaren, with prominent air intakes and scissor-style doors. In addition to a higher-end and more spacious interior than the 720S, the 2023 Artura offers several convenience and driver assistance features.
Interior, comfort, and cargo Inside, the Artura largely demonstrates McLaren’s function-over-fashion approach. However, the cabin is adorned with more elegant materials such as leather and micro suede.
There is also less visible carbon fiber than what is typical in other models. Nevertheless, the company is known for its minimalist cabin designs that limit the presence of physical switchgear and include buttonless steering wheels, and the Artura is no exception. It comes standard with electrically adjustable seats, and the McLaren seems to have excellent outward visibility to assist drivers in placing the car accurately on the road or track. Although not as spacious as the McLaren GT, the Artura has 6 cubic feet of luggage space in the front trunk.
Starting at $237,500, the Artura is available for order now, and McLaren indicates that deliveries will be made this year.
